| The Lost Post From NYFW |
NYFW: The event that every so called fashion lover and style fanatic wants to be apart of.
I must admit, I am one of those people. Like most, it has always been a dream of mine to attend New York Fashion Week. I can’t pin point the exact moment that it happened for me, but somewhere down the line, I got it in my head that making it to NYFW was the ultimate goal. The grand prize. Well friends, I can officially say that I have been living in NYC for three of them, but have yet to actually attend one. To be fair, I have had some pretty good excuses. The first one took place during our wedding week. The second one took place during our Honey Moon to Mexico. And the third one…well the third one, I was invited to a bunch of shows, but was honestly TOO BUSY with work to pick up in the middle of the day and attend one. Some of us still have to make money, honey. It ain’t easy out here livin’ in the city!
| Fall Feeling |
September is quickly coming to an end and October is right around the corner. I know that fall officially started about a week ago, but apparently NYC didn’t get the memo. I was afraid that this fall feeling would never come since the temperatures have been so blazing hot. I have literally been counting down the days until I could finally take some of my new favorite pieces out for a spin. Well folks, the day has finally come – I am so happy to be writing about my first fall look of the year! I love this season more than the average pumpkin spice latte drinking girl should. I mean who doesn’t? The crisp cool air, the cozy sweaters, the cute little boots, and the colorful leaves…it’s my favorite. Want to know the other best part about the autumn season?
It may literally and figuratively be THE HOTTEST color trend for this Fall. Flashes of this vibrant cherry color can be seen all around the fashion world right now, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. This specific red gives me all the feels. It reminds me of wearing the perfect shade of yellow – when you put it on, you can’t help but be happy. And not only does this bright hue make a statement on its own, but it also sharpens graphic patterns and livens up boring neutrals. It is such a POWER color. Whether you are rockin’ it as a bold lip or an oversized denim jacket, you are going to feel like you can do anything. I mean, who doesn’t want that?!
Spring has officially arrived in the city and I couldn’t be happier – even if that means having 5 million rainy days in a row. I feel like I may never truly be able to pick my favorite season amongst the rest, but there is something really special about the arrival of Spring. It is so fascinating to see how everything that was once dead seems to come back to life over night. One day I am looking outside my window and staring at sad, naked trees and the next morning, little green buds are blooming on each and every branch. Spring is a time of new beginnings and a time to remind us that we can have a fresh start and will continue to grow – no matter what the circumstances.
New York fashion – it is such a beautiful thing.
Honestly, that is what I was most excited about when I first found out that I would be moving to Manhattan. All I could imagine in my head was being able to dress up like Carrie Bradshaw everyday without having anyone judge me as I walked down the street. I have always had a passion for experimenting with style, but I felt like I never lived in a city that could accept or admire it. It was so refreshing to step outside for the first time and be completely comfortable with myself and what I was wearing. I mean, I was always confident enough to wear what I wanted in other cities, but it did bug me when others would constantly ask, “what are you wearing!?!?” At least the joke was usually on them when a few months down the line my outfit inspirations became the new hip thing that everyone had to get their hands on! That’s the perk of being able to study fashion trends – having the ability to forecast what the next big thing will be. People may look at you like you’re crazy when they see it for the first time, but I know in the back of my head that they will be reaching for the same pieces soon enough.
