Does anyone else out there celebrate their half birthday? Because I do!
Today is officially my half birthday and I am now 26 (and a half) years old. I know it sounds crazy, but I have always wanted a summer birthday. I have had this wish ever since I was a kid for many reasons. The first reason was the fact that in the summer there were always a bunch of fun birthday party ideas – like going to the waterpark, riding on rollercoaster rides, or even having a camp fire. When your birthday is during the cold winter months in Minnesota, it usually involves no one being able to make it to your party because the roads are covered in ice. And if anyone were able to make it, you were forced to stay inside so your faces wouldn’t freeze off. The second reason is the December birthday curse. For all of the December babies out there, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about! If your birthday happens to fall anywhere around Christmas time, you may or may not have experienced this said curse. It’s when either your birthday gift and Christmas gift are somehow combined in to being just one gift OR you want to celebrate and nobody is available because it is around the Holidays and everyone has prior commitments. I mean, it isn’t ALWAYS that way, but trust me, it definitely happens. That kind of curse is something a summer birthday will never have to experience.
Welcome to the Rainbow Room.
It is an iconic New York City landmark where you can experience world class dining and entertaining 65 stories above Rockefeller Center. I wasn’t quite sure what we were getting in to when we made these fancy reservations one Sunday for brunch, but boy am I thankful that we got to experience it. Needless to say, it may or may not be the only time that we will have the honor to dine there because the price tag isn’t for the faint of heart! BUT I must say that it was worth every single penny and I left feeling like I was wined and dined like royalty. They had stations upon stations of the most delicious food, a whole freshly pressed juice and smoothie bar, an entire corner dedicated to just desserts, and there was a menu that you could specially order from. I haven’t even gotten to the best part – it was completely unlimited! And the second best part? That view. Oh, don’t even get me started on how beautiful that view of New York City was.
After visiting Colorado many times, my boyfriend finally decided to introduce me to Freddy’s a few months ago…and all I have to say is that it was love at first bite. I have to be honest, after living only blocks away from The Blue Door (an amazing burger joint in St. Paul, Minnesota) for the last 5 years of my life, it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to a good burger. Between the amazing shoelace string fries covered in seasoning, to the delicious thin beef patties blanketed in melted cheese, Freddy’s has definitely given all other burger restaurants a run for their money.
