| Weekends with Tobi |

Weekends have always been my favorite (shocker, I know) but I have fallen even more in love with them since moving to NYC. This city is always buzzing with a million things to do but it is really hard to make time and enjoy all of those things during the work week. The weekends are my time to explore New York to the fullest and I am always excited to see what adventures it has in store. I like to take on my weekends by only making about 50% of my plans…because this city has a funny way of showing you what you really wanted to do all along without actually knowing it! Since my adventures seem to be a little unpredictable, I never really know the right thing to wear. All I know is that I want to be comfortable (because NYC involves a lot of walking) and I also want to look as fabulous as possible (because every corner seems to be the perfect photo opportunity). And the real kicker is if my outfit can accomplish both of those things without breaking the bank!

That’s where Tobi comes in.

Spring has officially arrived in the city and I couldn’t be happier – even if that means having 5 million rainy days in a row. I feel like I may never truly be able to pick my favorite season amongst the rest, but there is something really special about the arrival of Spring. It is so fascinating to see how everything that was once dead seems to come back to life over night. One day I am looking outside my window and staring at sad, naked trees and the next morning, little green buds are blooming on each and every branch. Spring is a time of new beginnings and a time to remind us that we can have a fresh start and will continue to grow – no matter what the circumstances.

New York fashion – it is such a beautiful thing.

Honestly, that is what I was most excited about when I first found out that I would be moving to Manhattan. All I could imagine in my head was being able to dress up like Carrie Bradshaw everyday without having anyone judge me as I walked down the street. I have always had a passion for experimenting with style, but I felt like I never lived in a city that could accept or admire it. It was so refreshing to step outside for the first time and be completely comfortable with myself and what I was wearing. I mean, I was always confident enough to wear what I wanted in other cities, but it did bug me when others would constantly ask, “what are you wearing!?!?” At least the joke was usually on them when a few months down the line my outfit inspirations became the new hip thing that everyone had to get their hands on! That’s the perk of being able to study fashion trends – having the ability to forecast what the next big thing will be. People may look at you like you’re crazy when they see it for the first time, but I know in the back of my head that they will be reaching for the same pieces soon enough.

February. The month of love.

It’s¬†always funny to me to see what this specific month seems to do to people. It creates such a huge divide between the ones who choose to celebrate love and the ones who get all down-in-the-dumps because they don’t think that they have it. Well I am here to bring you some good news – we all have love – and that’s something worth celebrating.

This year on Thanksgiving I felt as if I had a lot more to be thankful for than usual. A lot of milestones and life changing events have happened in the last year. Between graduating college, getting an amazing job, and moving out to Colorado with my other half, this year has tested me and brought me so much joy in ways that I never thought possible. The biggest life change that has happened this year was me moving away from everything I have known. Though I have been extremely busy and barely have time to stop and think about how much I miss home, I am always thinking about how much more aware I am that I am one lucky girl to have such amazing family and friends. When you are constantly around the ones you love, you sometimes lose sight of how thankful you are to have them around. You just kind of assume that they will always be there. No matter what.
