Happy Fourth of July, guys!

I hope you are all enjoying your barbecues, parades, and sparklers today. This weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year (especially since this one was EXTRA long). It is always full of fun and bursting at the seams with joy. I mean, how could you not be happy when celebrating America!? Our family spent all morning at our local parade and will be cheering on the Rockies at Coors Field tonight. I am so excited because we even get to see a firework show after the game (I have heard it is pretty spectacular). I don’t need much to make me happy on a day like today – all I ask for is a yummy hot dog and nice firework show, and that’s exactly what I’m going to get.

The Sweetest Summer Yet

Can you believe it’s already the first day of SUMMER!?

This year has seriously been going by way too fast. I need time to slow down a bit so I can have a moment to take it all in. So far, 2017 has been incredibly be good to me, and I have a feeling what’s yet to come will be no different. This is going to be the sweetest summer yet! How do I know this? Because I was lucky enough to kick off this perfectly sunny day with a few sweet (and heathy) treats at Chloe’s Fruit.

| 26 (and a half) |

Does anyone else out there celebrate their half birthday? Because I do!

Today is officially my half birthday and I am now 26 (and a half) years old. I know it sounds crazy, but I have always wanted a summer birthday. I have had this wish ever since I was a kid for many reasons. The first reason was the fact that in the summer there were always a bunch of fun birthday party ideas – like going to the waterpark, riding on rollercoaster rides, or even having a camp fire. When your birthday is during the cold winter months in Minnesota, it usually involves no one being able to make it to your party because the roads are covered in ice. And if anyone were able to make it, you were forced to stay inside so your faces wouldn’t freeze off. The second reason is the December birthday curse. For all of the December babies out there, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about! If your birthday happens to fall anywhere around Christmas time, you may or may not have experienced this said curse. It’s when either your birthday gift and Christmas gift are somehow combined in to being just one gift OR you want to celebrate and nobody is available because it is around the Holidays and everyone has prior commitments. I mean, it isn’t ALWAYS that way, but trust me, it definitely happens. That kind of curse is something a summer birthday will never have to experience.

| The Scooper Bowl |

This Saturday my husband gave me the best surprise ever – he brought me to The Scooper Bowl!!!

New York City was the first stop on the Scooper Bowl World Tour this year. I have never heard of it until this weekend, but I feel like it is something more people need to know about! The Scooper Bowl is the nation’s largest All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival. I mean, they had me at “all-you-can-eat ice cream” and they sealed the deal when they said it was all for an amazing cause. The proceeds for The Scooper Bowl benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports pediatric and adult cancer care and research at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and pediatric care at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. This festival made our tummies happy from trying ice cream from some of the most amazing creameries, and it made our hearts happy to be an active part in the Jimmy Fund’s mission to help fight cancer.

One year ago today I moved to this city and I never looked back.

Ever since I was young, I remember dreaming of such a moment, but I never truly believed that it would come true for me. I’m not quite sure when I decided to not let my dreams just be dreams. I have a feeling it was somewhere in between Zach getting a call from The Today Show while we were eating at Buffalo Wild Wings one day and the moment where I stood with tears streaming down my face as I lugged two large suitcases on a one-way plane ride to NYC. When I look back on it, I guess I never really went out and chased my dreams…I was kind of just pushed in to them after life got sick of me staying in my comfort zone for too long.
