Does anyone else out there celebrate their half birthday? Because I do!
Today is officially my half birthday and I am now 26 (and a half) years old. I know it sounds crazy, but I have always wanted a summer birthday. I have had this wish ever since I was a kid for many reasons. The first reason was the fact that in the summer there were always a bunch of fun birthday party ideas – like going to the waterpark, riding on rollercoaster rides, or even having a camp fire. When your birthday is during the cold winter months in Minnesota, it usually involves no one being able to make it to your party because the roads are covered in ice. And if anyone were able to make it, you were forced to stay inside so your faces wouldn’t freeze off. The second reason is the December birthday curse. For all of the December babies out there, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about! If your birthday happens to fall anywhere around Christmas time, you may or may not have experienced this said curse. It’s when either your birthday gift and Christmas gift are somehow combined in to being just one gift OR you want to celebrate and nobody is available because it is around the Holidays and everyone has prior commitments. I mean, it isn’t ALWAYS that way, but trust me, it definitely happens. That kind of curse is something a summer birthday will never have to experience.
This Saturday my husband gave me the best surprise ever – he brought me to The Scooper Bowl!!!
New York City was the first stop on the Scooper Bowl World Tour this year. I have never heard of it until this weekend, but I feel like it is something more people need to know about! The Scooper Bowl is the nation’s largest All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival. I mean, they had me at “all-you-can-eat ice cream” and they sealed the deal when they said it was all for an amazing cause. The proceeds for The Scooper Bowl benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports pediatric and adult cancer care and research at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and pediatric care at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. This festival made our tummies happy from trying ice cream from some of the most amazing creameries, and it made our hearts happy to be an active part in the Jimmy Fund’s mission to help fight cancer.
Hello beauties! Here is another Five to Try coming in real hot.
I already feel like this series is going to get out of hand because I keep on finding SO MANY cute pieces! I am seriously fighting back the urge to post more than one of these every week. I’ll also go ahead and apologize now for making you question what you may or may not be putting your weekly paycheck towards from here on because these items might just be too hard for anyone to pass up. I hope you enjoy!
I love going on adventures. Especially to places I’ve never been.
This weekend I set out on a mission. I had been wanting to visit the Brooklyn Bridge for some time since moving to the city, but I never really made the time to actually do it. Since my anniversary of becoming an official New Yorker is quickly approaching, I decided that I had to finally make the time to go see it. Only then would I feel like I accomplished almost everything I wanted to after living in New York City for a whole year.
Hello friends! Welcome to my newest series “Five to Try” where I show you the pieces that I am currently crushing on. As a part of my job, I am constantly searching for new pieces to feature in articles and segments for people across America. During these searches I ALWAYS find things that I am just dying to try myself. Everything pictured below are items that I have been eyeing in all of my favorite shops for some time now. My picks really have no rhyme or reason – I just wanted to open you up to options that you might not be able to find on your own. Each week I will give you various pieces to possibly try out for yourself – all things ranging in different sizes, colors, silhouettes, and prices. Who knows, you might even see me rocking a few of these in later posts :)
Go get your shop on girl – I hope you enjoy!
